In the news and blogosphere today

I just needed a study break, so I went surfing and found these:

Limo driver gets kidney from customer
(from Yahoo!) This guy must be a really good driver!

Hearse driver fined for speeding
(from Yahoo!) Only in Ireland. I guess he was on his way to the party after the funeral.

Tai Shan's birthday party at the National Zoo
What do you buy this one year old? (from the Washington Post)

Cyber-Savvy pastors blog when the spirit moves them
An interesting look at clergymen blogging on the web. (from the Washington Post)

From the blogosphere...

Where happycatholic gets all these goofy jokes, I'll never know, but I was ROFL on this one (in my favorite wifi spot no less...)

Rolling around town

Since today is my day off and I had to get the oil changed in hubby's car, I decided to tote my bike with me so I could ride around while I waited for the work to be complete.

First, I rode over to Maplewood and went to Mass with the St. Boniface folks who meet there regularly. We met the superintendent of the Maplewood-Richmond Heights school district who was there to see Fr. Jim while we were having coffee. After that, I meandered over to St. Louis Hills to a wifi spot, so I could look up some of the terms I need for class next week.

I wish I could do a nice, long bike ride every day. It is a whole lot of fun!

It's Friday on Thursday!

Thankfully, I am now at home vegging out after a busy day of exams and class. I got out of my exam early, so I got a cup of coffee this morning and sat outside perusing the textbook for my new class which started today. I didn't have the reading list, so I just read the sections in the special boxes to amuse myself.

When I was finished, I walked back over toward the building and chitchatted with a couple of classmates. I was getting ready to go in, when I saw Fr. Don Henke strolling west toward the Med School. We had a nice little chat outside before I went back to class. I had not seen him since my wedding in 2000. It was fun to catch up. Good luck on that dissertation!

Now I'm going to do a few things and get Bubba from day care and have some more fun!

Adventures in computing

I had fun tonight trying to fix up an old Sony VAIO PC. Its power supply died a while ago and I haven't had much time to work on it. Since tomorrow is a holiday, I decided to spend some time on it this evening. It was really, really dirty again, despite the fact that I cleaned it very thoroughly before we started using it last year.

Once the power supply died, I went in search of another. What a surprise...none of the power supplies would fit in my oddball VAIO case. I bought a new case with power supply. This one has a 24 pin connector and the motherboard only has a 20 pin connector.

Now I have to order a part and start this trek over again when I have more time. It should be fun.

From the blogsphere....

I love NY Hack. He is a taxi driver who has some really funny stories. If you've never tried his blog, I highly suggest it, especially if you're planning a trip to NYC anytime soon.

I guess, since I'm getting ready to go into my clinical soon at school, this one just seemed too appropriate (and funny).

An interesting study

I found this because I saw a video on this study on cnn.com

Study: Drunks drive better than cell phone users

I'd STRONGLY urge you not to drive drunk, but I'd also suggest that you put that phone down while driving if possible.

Your car, your insurance company, your family and your fellow drivers will certainly appreciate it.
