All because of a cat named Lucifer
I often wonder how things pass in and out of life in the strangest ways. I have met some really fascinating people in the oddest ways.
I met Don Finkel because of my husband. He had to watch Lucifer while Don and his wife Connie were out of town many years ago when we were dating. That experience led to a long and even more exciting story, when the housesitter's worst nightmare comes true--a disaster at the house. (Thankfully not caused by my husband but by a workman's errant torch on the roof.)Everything turned out well with that one, and Lucifer lived to a ripe old age.
We really enjoyed talking to Don and Connie. They were the most fascinating people and I learned more about them once I read their work. Don and his daughter Amy even came to our wedding. We think of him often, because his wedding gift, a beautiful bowl, sits in our dining room where we see it every day.
I read in April that a number of poets did a tribute to Don at one of the local restaurants. Today I read that Don passed away over the weekend. Our sincerest condolences go out today to Amy, Tom, and Liza and the rest of the Finkel family. What a wonderful life!
